متن کاملCongruences for the Andrews spt function.
Ramanujan-type congruences for the Andrews spt(n) partition function have been found for prime moduli 5 ≤ ℓ ≤ 37 in the work of Andrews [Andrews GE, (2008) J Reine Angew Math 624:133-142] and Garvan [Garvan F, (2010) Int J Number Theory 6:1-29]. We exhibit unexpectedly simple congruences for all ℓ≥5. Confirming a conjecture of Garvan, we show that if ℓ≥5 is prime and (-δ/ℓ) = 1, then spt[(ℓ2(ℓn...
متن کاملNon-existence of Ramanujan Congruences in Modular Forms of Level Four
Abstract. Ramanujan famously found congruences for the partition function like p(5n + 4) ≡ 0 (mod 5). We provide a method to find all simple congruences of this type in the coefficients of the inverse of a modular form on Γ1(4) which is non-vanishing on the upper half plane. This is applied to answer open questions about the (non)-existence of congruences in the generating functions for overpar...
متن کاملHigher congruences between modular forms
It is well-known that two modular forms on the same congruence subgroup and of the same weight, with coefficients in the integer ring of a number field, are congruent modulo a prime ideal in this integer ring, if the first B coefficients of the forms are congruent modulo this prime ideal, where B is an effective bound depending only on the congruence subgroup and the weight of the forms. In thi...
متن کاملp-ADIC AND COMBINATORIAL PROPERTIES OF MODULAR FORM COEFFICIENTS
A well known result is that if E2k is the Eisenstein series of weight 2k and 2k = 2k′ (mod (p− 1)p), then E2k = E2k′ (mod p). In words, this result tells us that the Eisenstein series form a natural family of modular forms that are p-adically interpolated in the weight aspect. Motivated by a question of Serre, we construct a second natural family of modular forms that have this same property. B...
